QA for Apex Legends
Apex Legends – QA Lead/Tester
I worked on Apex Legends as QA for just over a year and a half and learned a lot while I was there. I developed proficiency in tools like Jira and Confluence and worked in a large team throughout the game development life cycle. After becoming a QA Lead, my appreciation for my team managers shot to the moon.

At our largest we were a team of about 160 testers. As the Defect Coordinator for our team I was in charge of:
- Tracking and reporting all our bugs in both Slack and Jira to leadership.
- Reviewing, editing, and providing feedback written by the team.
- Onboarding new employees with our bug reporting pipeline and practices.
- Monitoring and troubleshooting issues we encountered during Smoke Tests, Road to Hard Lock season patches, Season Preview builds, and live studio-wide tests.
Promoting to Defect Coordinator meant I assumed the previously mentioned responsibilities on top of my usual ones as a prior QA Tester:
- Brainstorming new ideas for FTUE(First Time User Experience), Legends, maps, weapons, accessibility settings, and more.
- Providing feedback to developers via both surveys and meetings.
- Logging lots and lots of bugs.
During my time on the team I played a key role in the development of features from Season 16 to Season 23. This includes, but is not limited to:
- The additions of the Legends Ballistic, Conduit, and Alter, as well as the reworks for Revenant, Ash, and Lifeline.
- An overhaul of Ranked Leagues.
- An overhaul of the Firing Range with a focus on improving FTUE.
- The new map E-District as well as map updates to Storm Point and Broken Moon.
- Multiple new game modes such as Three Strikes, Revenant Uprising, and the limited time mission Kill Code: A Thief’s Bane.
- Brand new mechanics such as Legend Upgrades and Shield Cores.
